1. Teen attacked, robbed
West 230th Street and Godwin Terrace
Bronx, NY
Police said a 16-year-old boy was robbed and attacked near the Marble Hill Playground, at West 230th Street and Godwin Terrace, on March 1 at 8:30 a.m. The victim was reportedly walking to school when an unknown male, also about 16 years old, tapped him on the shoulder and demanded that the victim hand over his Beats headphones, valued at $380. When the victim refused, the perpetrator tackled him to the ground while a second attacker, a 19-year-old black male, jumped on the teen and took his wallet. Yet a third assailant, described only as male, punched the victim three times in the face. Police said they caught the first perpetrator, but the other two remain at large. The case is closed to detectives.
2. Transit employee assaulted
A 24-year-old man punched an on-duty MTA transit official in the neck and ribs on March 4, according to police. The incident occurred at the 242nd Street – Van Cortlandt Park subway station at 7:35 p.m. Police said the transit employee was uniformed and on-duty when the assault took place. The felony assault case is closed due to arrest.
3. Couple attacked in Kingsbridge Heights
Webb Avenue and Reservoir Avenue
Bronx, NY
Police say five men attacked a couple with glass bottles while they were walking on Webb Avenue and Reservoir Avenue earlier this month. The reporter, a 17-year-old woman, said she and her boyfriend were walking down the street when five perpetrators, all in their late teens, approached the pair and began throwing glass bottles at them. No one was injured, and the attackers fled on foot. Only three descriptions of the perpetrators were available: one was a black male, 16, about 5-feet-8-inches, the second perpetrator was black and about 18 years old and another was Hispanic, also 18. The reckless endangerment case is closed to investigation.
4. Burglar caught in closet
5450 Palisade Ave.
Bronx, NY
Police said they responded to a radio call to 5450 Palisade Ave. at 9:30 a.m. on March 6. Upon arriving, they found the window panel on the side entrance of the victim’s home broken and the door open. Officers searched the house and found a suspect hiding in a bedroom closet inside the home. The man was arrested and charged with attempted burglary. According to police, the defendant had stolen two phone chargers.
5. Tow truck driver arrested
Exterior Avenue and West 225th Street
Bronx, NY
On March 4, police say they observed a black GMC Sierra tow truck driving recklessly on Exterior Avenue and West 225th Street. Police say the driver ran two red lights, and was driving on the left side of the street when he was pulled over. The 25-year-old man was found with an expired tow truck license and arrested for reckless endangerment.
