Posted

If you're looking to get around using the A train for Memorial Day weekend, better check the schedule before you venture out, because you might not be able to find it.

Beginning at 9:45 p.m., on Friday (and runnning through 5 a.m., on Tuesday), A trains aren't running in either direction between Inwood/207th Street and 168th Street. Trains will run the rest of the way from 168th, but downtown trains will run express between 125th Street and 59th Street/Columbus Circle.

For the nothern route, 1 trains are running normal nearby, but there also will be free shuttle buses along Broadway between 168th and 207th streets, as well as on Fort Washington Avenue between 168th and 190th streets.

For the downtown express trains, use an uptown A or C train to make local stops from 59th Street.

During that time, A trains also will stop at 155th Street in both directions, due to station rehabilitation work at both 145th and 168th streets.

Track maintenance will affect 1 trains, but only into Manhattan between 4:45 a.m. and 8 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday. Uptown trains will skip 103rd, 110th, 116th and 125th streets. Downtown 1 trains, transferring from 168th or 96th street, will get you to the local stops.

Memorial Day itself will be treated as if it were a Sunday for all buses and trains. Metro-North did add 17 extra afternoon trains on Friday departing Grand Central Terminal, but on Memorial Day, these trains will run on a Sunday schedule.
