SUMMER OF HELL

No 1 trains this weekend in Kingsbridge

Posted

It's going to be a little harder to get out of the Bronx this weekend, especially if you're hoping to jump on the 1 train.

Beginning 11:30 p.m. Friday and running through 5 a.m. Monday, 1 trains are suspended in both directions between 137th Street and Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. That means 1 trains are only running between South Ferry and 137th Street.

To get between 137th and 168th streets, MTA suggests using free shuttle buses, or either the A or C trains at nearby stations.

Traveling between 168th and 191st streets requires the M3 or a free shuttle bus. Or if worse comes to worse, using the A at nearby stations, and transfering between 1 and A or C trains at 59th Street.

To traverse between Dyckman Street and 207th Street, use the A trains at nearby stations. To get from 207th to 242nd Street, take a free shuttle bus to the A train at 207th Street.

If you do depend on the A, however, expect some route changes there, too. The A trains are set to run express in both directions between 59th Street-Columbus Circle and Canal Street beginning at 11:45 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. However, the trains will run local between 6:30 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
