Caught red-handed

1. A burglary suspect was caught fleeing the scene of a crime with a stolen TV and some mail in tow on Oct. 5, according to police. 

Police apprehended the man while investigating a burglary at 6113 Riverdale Ave., officers said. 

Police said the suspect broke in through a glass door and made off with a TV and a few parcels of mail. 

This case is closed due to arrest. 

Cars victimized in slow week 

It was a slow week in the 50th precinct, according to police, and most crimes were automobile-related, including a car theft, theft of objects from a car and the vandalization of a car. 

2. In one of the cases, a 2009 Dodge Caliber was stolen from the northeast corner of W. 231st Street and Corlear Avenue. 

The victim told police he parked the car at 10 a.m. on Oct. 10, but when he returned at 8 p.m. the same day, the car was gone.

This case is closed to detectives

3. On Oct. 8, a man, 28, told police someone had broken into his car and stolen $10,060 worth of property. 

The car was parked on the corner of W. Kingsbridge Road and Reservoir Avenue from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., during which time someone broke in and stole a Tag Heuer watch, a gold bracelet, a Burberry watch and Beats by Dre headphones. 

This case is open to detectives. 

4. Also on Oct. 8, an unidentified suspect approached a 1997 Honda CR-V and smashed both side view mirrors for no apparent reason, police said.  

The victim, 39, told police he had parked his car in front of 171 W. 230th St., and when he returned, both of his side view mirrors were smashed on the ground. 

This case is open to detectives.
