Rain, floods pummel neighborhoods

Posted

Some 3 inches of rain fell overnight, and continued on through morning, flooding streets and making the morning commute hectic.

And despite a flash flood warning continuing through the afternoon, it looks like the worst might finally be over.

Still, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 2:15 p.m. on Monday for the broader area, including Bronx County, meaning that flooding is either imminent or occurring, and those living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions. Also, those living in low-lying areas prone to flooding should be careful as well.

The rain is expected to clear later this afternoon, with partly cloudy skies the next two days, before precipitation returns on Thursday.
