Sen. Klein brings the community together

Posted

In about one month, community members will come together on the beautiful College of Mount Saint Vincent campus to celebrate the eighth annual Riverdale RiverFest.

I know I’m not alone when I say that this event is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s a time where everybody can gather in one place, put whatever differences they have aside, and cherish the admirable landscape we’re fortunate enough to call home.

Annually, thousands of families show up to enjoy the numerous forms of entertainment available. There is something for people of all ages, from live music, to boat rides, to miniature golf and face painting.

For a number of years now, the Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corp. has been tasked with organizing this spectacular day. This annual production likely would not be possible without the generous state funding KRVC receives from Sen. Jeff Klein.

I tend to believe that Riverdale RiverFest also gives our community a taste of what a Hudson River greenway could offer. Expansive, hilly greenways with direct access to the coast that’s shared by friends, families and strangers alike.

This highly sought-after project has been a top priority for not only Riverdale community, but also Sen. Jeff Klein, who allocated the $250,000 to fund an MTA feasibility study.

With the backing of our elected officials, hopefully soon every day in Riverdale can be like RiverFest.
