Sen. Klein has some chutzpah

I am still trying to process the closing paragraphs of state Sen. Jeff Klein’s letter on why health care reform in New York isn’t easy.

I wasn’t particularly surprised by the usual disinformation he disseminated. However, my breath was taken away with this statement:

“I will continue to work in Albany. I will continue to fight for the common good of all New Yorkers, and I will continue to add to the IDC’s track record of passing progressive legislation. So let’s leave the governing to me, and I’ll leave the rise and resisting to you.”

Really?

I’m not sure how I would describe that final sentence. Effrontery? Paternalistic? Chutzpah? They all come to mind.

Actually, I think that Mr. Klein needs a major attitude readjustment. He works for the people of his district, and many are dissatisfied with his actions — particularly as they grasp what his leadership of the IDC is doing to New York state politics. He doesn’t own his senate seat. The people do.

Nothing is forever, including the dysfunctional alliances that now stand in Albany.
