(re: “Reject Hebrew Home plans,” July 5)

This is a letter of correction for several false statements posted in the July 7 letter from Barbara Miller.

Our plan to build River’s Edge, New York City’s first continuing care retirement community, cannot and should not be described or compared to an apartment complex. A CCRC is a life plan community — with accommodations for independent living, assisted living and nursing home care, so that one’s health needs — as they change with time — will always be met.

A resident of a CCRC will never go on Medicaid, and will never need to leave the campus due to health decline. An apartment complex does not provide this for its residents.

We did not sell our Johnson Avenue apartment building. We own it and continue to operate a low-income senior community at that location that provides a safe, vibrant home for older adults.

The Hebrew Home has been an integral part of the Riverdale community since 1951.

For the past five years, we have embraced open dialogue with the community, and are proud to have made numerous design changes in direct response to feedback, making this CCRC a true reflection of Riverdale.
