Spicy spurt subdues young robbery victim

It’s doubtful anyone enjoys a late-afternoon dousing of pepper spray.

But that’s exactly what one unlucky 24-year-old got. He told police two guys walked up to him at Broadway and West 246th Street right by Van Cortlandt Park and sprayed him before 3:30 p.m., on July 17, causing pain, redness and swelling.

The assailants snatched his wallet, valued by police at $22, along with about the same amount in cash, credit cards, his ID, and his Samsung Galaxy smartphone, valued at $669.

Police described one of the attackers as around 19, 5-foot-10, with black eyes, black hair and wearing a white shirt. His accomplice was around 6 feet tall and wore a green shirt.

One week, three motorcycles, all gone

Beaches beckon as summer swelters, and some thieves probably are on the prowl for ways to take an open-air joyride — like on motorcycles.

A 38-year-old man told police he parked his 2016 black Yamaha motorcycle on the 2800 block of Bailey Avenue just before midnight on July 17, returning the following morning to find it missing.

But the Yamaha wasn’t the only bike pilfered recently. 

A 29-year-old man told cops he parked his 2017 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on the same block as the Yamaha a little before midnight on July 15, but when he went back for it on the evening of July 18, it was gone. 

Cameras in the area could help cops track down the Ninja, worth $10,000.

And a day after the Kawasaki rider realized his vehicle disappeared, a 56-year-old parked his blue 2018 Honda motorcycle on the 3200 block of Cambridge Avenue, around dinnertime on July 19, returning the next morning to find it, too, had vanished. 

While a search of the area came up empty-handed, police said, they’ll turn to cameras in hopes of spotting the Honda, valued at $8,000.
