Still want just 1 lane?

The recent article on the front page of The Riverdale Press regarding the necessary, noisy, uncoordinated roadwork on Johnson Avenue and the roadwork on Riverdale Avenue brought to mind a proposal by the North Riverdale Merchants Association to narrow Riverdale Avenue from two lanes north and south to one lane north and south for faster-flowing traffic.

I hope our community remembers what it has been like these past months with Riverdale Avenue narrowing into one lane and trying to park with construction equipment blocking parking spaces.

I would like to thank the NRMA for the plantings along Riverdale Avenue between West 257th and West 259th streets. Who will be watering and weeding these plants?

I also would like to thank Dunkin’ Donuts in the Skyview Shopping Center for emptying its trash can in front of their store.

Every day, the two trash baskets in the Skyview parking lot and the one in front of Pizza Block are overflowing with trash blowing past the storefronts and the parking lot.

Can these baskets be emptied at least once a day? Maybe we need more trash baskets in the area. Why did Key Food remove their trash basket?
