Thank you, Cliff Stanton!

To the editor:

Cliff Stanton’s four-year tenure as the greenway director of the Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corp., was filled with outstanding accomplishments.

Cliff, with KRVC, produced four RiverFests, two Greenway Days, and three Greenway Galas.

All those events built momentum for the Hudson River Greenway initiative in the Bronx.

Cliff worked closely with Community Board 8, our elected officials, and other stakeholders to further our community’s long-time quest to achieve river access and a Hudson River greenway. Most significant, he was a constant force behind the effort to obtain the MTA study that was completed last spring, along with state Sen. Jeff Klein, who was able to allocate state funding for the study.

The community can now use the MTA study as a blueprint for the construction of a greenway.

There is still much to do before we are strolling along the river and enjoying all the economic, recreational and economic benefits of a greenway. However, Cliff and the KRVC made huge strides toward this initiative over the last four years.

I am proud that we were able to make this contribution, and very grateful to Cliff for the huge part he played in making it happen.

I look forward to seeing what next steps we can take together toward the achievement of a Hudson River Greenway initiative in the Bronx.

Whatever the path forward is, I hope KRVC can continue to play a role in it.

It was with great regret that I accepted Cliff’s resignation as the greenway director of KRVC and I want to, again, thank him for all he has done for our community.
