The Bronx Welcomes Halloween with a Night of Music and Spooky Family Fun

Posted

It’s Halloween in the Bronx! The BMHC kicks off its annual Bronx Rising! Halloween celebration with goodies, photos, and classic scary movies. Families and children are invited to dress up in their most impressive costumes and join the BMHC for a night of music, activities, face painting and chilling fun. Families will have the opportunity to take free family portraits with local photographer Edwin Pagán, followed by a screening of the classic silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, with a live Latin music soundtrack performed by Bobby Sanabria & Project X.

During the event, the BMHC will be collecting donations for Puerto Rico hurricane relief efforts, to be donated to the Jazz Foundation of America (JFA). JFA relief will help musicians on the island who have lost their homes, instruments, and livelihoods. JFA helps professional, career musicians, who rely on music to pay their bills.

New York City hosts the largest population of Puerto Ricans outside of the island, and the Bronx has long been a primary landing spot for Puerto Ricans who emigrate to the mainland. As Puerto Rico works to rebuild after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, WHEDco and the BMHC are excited to provide an opportunity for participants and visitors to contribute to the effort.
