Thief steals some tools of the trade

A Manhattan company didn’t get the kind of Bronx welcome they hoped for. Instead, they lost more than $1,000 worth of tools.

The heating and air-conditioning company MIH Systems Group was completing a job in the Bronx, parking their van at East 233rd Street and Jerome Avenue on Saturday, July 8. They returned later to find the right side front window smashed in. 

Upon further investigation, MIH discovered a number of tools missing: three drills, a Milwaukee hammer drill, gauges and various hand tools.

The total cost of damages and stolen property was worth just under $1,500, police said.

Although the 50th Precinct is on the case, there isn’t much to work with — no suspects, no witnesses and no cameras at the scene of the crime.

Driver overdosed, crashes car

Police officers got more than what they bargained for when they responded to the scene of a car accident July 10 at 6425 Broadway. 

There, they found the driver, a 35-year-old man, unresponsive with the keys to the 2014 Honda Civic still dangling in the ignition.

Emergency Medical Services arrived as well, administering one dose of Naloxone — a drug used to treat narcotic emergencies — which revived the driver. 

The man displayed obvious signs of a drug overdose, according to police, and was arrested.

Purse-snatcher finds diamond in the rough

One woman was enjoying her Sunday in Van Cortlandt Park on July 16 when her purse was snatched.

Police were called to the corner of Gun Hill Road and Jerome Avenue around 11 p.m., where the 32-year-old victim said she left her handbag down on a table inside the park when someone stole it.

Her Gucci bag alone was worth $700, according to a police estimate, and contained several credit cards. That would would warrant enough cause for concern. But, it appears that the thief hit the jackpot as the victim’s diamond engagement ring was also inside the designer purse.

The ring, at least according to police estimates, was valued at $5,000.

Motorcyclist has chops stolen

One rider won’t be joining his motorcycle group anytime soon.

A 29-year-old man innocently parked his motorcycle July 6 in a garage on West 225th Street, only to return to find his bike missing.

According to police, the victim said he simply parked and that someone took off with his 2016 Yamaha. Police estimated its value at $15,000.

Car thief gains $1,350 

Someone broke into a parked car at 3901 Sedgwick Ave., July 7 at around midnight, taking off with more than $1,300 worth of goods.

That includes a leather briefcase police valued at $550, a cell phone and charger valued at $300, and three pairs of sunglasses, cashing in at $450.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, didn’t know what happened until 7 the following morning. According to police, there was no broken glass or signs of damage to the 2016 blue BMW. 

There were no cameras and no witnesses.

Food delivery goes awry

A delivery driver was finishing a drop-off at West 233rd Street and Broadway on July 14 when he was attacked.

According to police, the 33-year-old victim said a man walked up to him just before 10:30 p.m. and began hitting him. 

After that, the purported thief took $300 cash, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone police valued at $100, and his mountain bike, which police said cost $1,000.

The unknown perp then ran away, the victim said.
