Thousands brave Riverdale's hills in Tour de Bronx

Some 10,000 avid cyclists went on a whirlwind tour of the borough in the Tour de Bronx.

Participants had a choice to make: the 25-mile route or the 40-mile route. The latter took them through the northwest Bronx, up and down the notoriously hilly landscape.

From Manhattan College Parkway to Fort Independence Street, riders huffed and puffed their way to the finish line. Rest stops along the way offered riders water and snacks.

Both routes ended at the New York Botanical Garden, where they could stretch out on the grass and listen to the musical stylings of the Lickety Split Band.
