When will Trump apologize?

To the editor:

To me, one of the most disturbing statements Michelle Wolf uttered at the White House Correspondents Dinner was the one she closed with: “Flint still doesn’t have clean water!” — four years after the water crisis in that Michigan city went public.

But what her critics are up in arms about are her supposedly insulting remarks about Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, although in reality, she did not say anything whatsoever about their physical appearance. Rather, she focused on their endless lies.

Folks at Fox News and others have demanded Wolf apologize, but her supporters — myself included — contend that her monologue contained only truth to power, and attempts to make the powerful uncomfortable by means of comedy — exactly what she was hired to do.

Moreover, these critics have never, not once, demanded President Trump apologize for his innumerable tweeted and spoken insults, which include labeling former FBI director James Comey “an untruthful slime ball,” Congresswoman Maxine Waters “a low-IQ individual,” Donna Brazile “totally dishonest,” Sen. Rand Paul “truly weird” and reminiscent of “a spoiled brat without a functioning brain,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren a “lowlife,” Alicia Machado “disgusting,” Frank Luntz “a low-class slob,” former governor George Romney “a total joke,” and dozens of others “crazy” or “dopey.”

Did anyone ask him to apologize for tweeting of Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg that “her mind is shot”?

And that Sen. John McCain is “incapable of doing anything”?

The hypocrisy of Trump supporters is truly breathtaking.
