A book co-written by a Riverdale architect is getting some praise in the Wall Street Journal.

Columnist Michelle Slatrella praised “Time-saver Standards for Interior Design and Space Planning” as “The Silver Bible” in a listing of crucial home and garden books she published last month.

Written by Martin Zelnik and the late Julius Panero, Slatrella said the book is “considered a landmark professional handbook for architects, interior designers and design students.”

The 1,160-page book was originally published in 1991 by McGraw-Hill that provided special insight into how to save time and money when it came to construction details and finishes, as well as woodworking and special treatments, according to an online description.

Zelnik continues to work as an architect even today, designing a number of private homes in and around the community. He also was the architect behind the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale.
