Insell takes over Bronx Arts Ensemble

The Bronx Arts Ensemble has a new executive director, and her name is Judith Insell.

Her promotion comes just months after she was made the ensemble’s artistic director. She replaces David Nussenbaum, who led the organization for more than five years.

Insell is a professional violist who has collaborated with such artists as Beyoncé, John Cale and Suzanne Vega, among others, according to a release. She’s also appeared on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” as well as CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Insell has performed in Broadway show orchestras for “Les Misérables,” “An American in Paris” and “Miss Saigon.”

Past work includes director of the School for the Performing Arts at Bronx House, director of music at the Harlem School of the Arts, and six years volunteering her time for Manhattan Community Board 9, where she chaired a youth and education committee.

Get paid for working summer job in park

The Van Cortlandt Park Alliance is looking to bring aboard a group of interns it wants to label “urban eco-teens.”

It’s a summer opportunity for high school students outside in Van Cortlandt Park alongside horticulturists and natural areas restoration staff members.

Perks to the paid internship include environmental field trips as well as an exploration of green career opportunities. Also, those who are eligible will get a tuition-free, accredited college course on sustainable cities at Manhattan College.

The application deadline is May 15, with informal informational sessions planned throughout April. The alliance also is looking for college students interested in serving as crew leaders.

The alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and supporting Van Cortlandt Park.
