1. Sneakers stolen off man’s feet

Police arrested a man on suspicion of stealing the sneakers off another man’s feet, officers said. The 46-year-old suspect is accused of forcibly taking a pair of Nike sneakers off the feet of his 23-year-old alleged victim on the corner of W. 242nd Street and Broadway, according to police. The victim in the July 14 incident told police he recognized his attacker. Officers were able to apprehend him, police said. This case is closed to investigation.
2. Nursing home burglarized
6585 Broadway
Bronx, NY
The Park Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was burglarized at around 5:20 a.m. on July 14, police said. Security footage showed an unknown perpetrator breaking into the nursing home, located at 6585 Broadway, through the parking garage, police said. There were no signs of forcible entry, according to investigators. Police say the burglar took $650 worth of property, including a toolbox and a garden hose. This case is open to detectives.
3. Motorcycle stolen—again
3363 Sedgwick Ave.
Bronx, NY
A 62-year-old man whose motorcycle had been stolen and recovered told police the 2001 Honda bike was stolen—again—last week. The victim told police he had parked the motorcycle in front of 3363 Sedgwick Ave. on Saturday, only to find it gone when he returned later. The same motorcycle had previously been stolen and retrieved by the NYPD, according to police reports. This case is closed to detectives.
4. Backpack snatched
130 W. 228th St.
Bronx, NY
A woman’s backpack was stolen off the side of the street while she had her back turned on July 14, police said. The woman, 37, said she left her bag on the sidewalk while she retrieved her car in front of 130 W. 228th St., but by the time she turned back around, the backpack was gone. The bag held her laptop, clothes and a Bluetooth speaker, along with various other items. The estimated value of the stolen property was $4,110. This case is open to investigation.
5. Drunk driver nabbed
Broadway and W. 251st Street
Bronx, NY
The driver of a 2014 Mercedes-Benz was arrested at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday for driving drunk, police say. The arresting officer observed the suspect making an unsafe U-turn on the corner of Broadway and W. 251st Street, while driving a car with tinted windows, police said. Police say the man, 36, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. He was taken to the precinct for a Breathalyzer exam.
