Man nabs $13,500 from Broadway Dunkin' coffee shop

Posted

While many people are staying home in efforts to slow the infection rate of the virus that causes COVID-19, others are finding their way into places they shouldn't be. And no door — or roof — will stop them, apparently.

Police are looking for a man they say broke into the Dunkin' coffee shop at 5201 Broadway in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 7. It was there investigators from the 50th Precinct say a man forced his way through the shop's ceiling. Once there, he pulled $13,500 from cash registers and a safe, before taking off in a maroon Honda Accord from the West 230th Street entrance of the Major Deegan Expressway.

The Dunkin' location opened just last year there, in space that had formerly been occupied by McDonald's near West 225th Street.

Police have shared video of the man allegedly taking the cash from the shop, which you can watch by clicking here.
