Man stabbed, killed at Broadway car dealership

A 22-year-old Yonkers man has died in  what some have described as a workplace dispute-turned-violent.

Police were called out to Riverdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram at 5869 Broadway around dinnertime on Monday, finding the man on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive, according to the New York Police Department. The man — Brandon Almonte of  Sunnyside Drive — had suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Almonte was rushed to the Allen Hospital on the Inwood side of the Broadway Bridge where he died.

Arrested was Jose Almodovar, 53, of University Avenue in Morris Heights. He was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.

This is the first murder reported within the 50th Precinct this year, which had just one homicide in 2019.  Major crimes in the precinct remain up more than 36 percent through the middle of February, although violent crime has been down or flat compared to the previous year.

It's the ninth reported homicide in the Bronx so far this year, compared to eight by this same point in 2019, according to NYPD-provided crime statistics.

Yet, it's not the first reported workplace assault in the precinct this year. Last month, a supervisor at Fort Independence Houses was critically injured after he was reportedly shot by an employee.
