Manhattan College students clean up

Posted

It was a busy morning at Brust Park on Nov. 9 when students from nearby Manhattan College joined the Stewards of Brust Park and the city’s sanitation department for the final Leaf Crunch of the season.

Nearly two-dozen volunteers gathered to rake and fill 188 bags of leaves, which in turn is set to be composted rather than simply left to sit in the park all winter long.

Leaf Crunch was a citywide project that also took place at the Fort Independence Playground and the Episcopal Church of the Mediator in October.

P.S. 7 reopens renovated library

P.S. 7 Milton Fein School held a grand re-opening for its renovated library and parent resource room on Nov. 8 at the Kingsbridge Avenue school.

The dual opening gives students and parents a place to work and focus, administrators said, with the adults room offering a new place for parents to gather, work and take advantage of the school’s resources to help not just their children, but also themselves.

Students celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by cake and speeches.
