1. Robbery at Vannie

Two men told police they were robbed at knifepoint by four unknown perpetrators while walking on Van Cortlandt Park’s Putnam Trail on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The victims, ages 18 and 19, said two men stopped them, with one brandishing a knife and the other standing behind them. The first suspect demanded the victims’ wallets. When they complied, the perpetrators began to flee the scene before two other men approached. One man from that duo held a knife to one victim’s throat while the other suspect claimed to have a gun. The second pair of assailants took the victims’ phones and the four culprits fled the scene together. The perpetrators reportedly stole $1,205 in merchandise, including an iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, Beats by Dre headphones, keys, wallets and IDs. The case remains open to detectives.
2. Robbed at Knifepoint
West 234th Street and Bailey Avenue
Bronx, NY
A 13-year-old boy was walking home at the northeast corner of West 234th Street and Bailey Avenue on May 19 at 5:30 p.m. when an unknown suspect robbed him at knife point, according to police. They said the perpetrator stopped the teenager to ask him for his phone, and when the victim refused, the suspect out a knife out of his pocket and demanded the boy’s iPhone 6S. The suspect reportedly then fled the scene. Four individuals who were apparently watching the robbery ran off with the suspect. The case is still open to detectives.
3. Library break-in
650 W. 235th St
Brinx, NY
Police said they arrested five teenagers who broke into Spuyten Duyvil Library, located at 650 W. 235th St., around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday. Officers responding to an alarm at the library arrested the teenagers, ranging in age from 15 to 17. Nothing was reported stolen from the library. The suspects face charges of breaking and entering and attempted robbery.
4. Auto break-in
5282 Post Road
Bronx, NY
An unknown suspect broke into a woman’s car at 5282 Post Road on Saturday, stealing personal items, according to police. The woman reportedly parked her 2013 Mazda M3 at 10:30 a.m. and upon returning at 3:30 p.m., she found someone had broken the rear passenger window. The $6,200 worth of stolen goods included a pair of diamond earrings, diamond rings, a U.S. passport and several other items. A canvas of the area produced negative results, and the case is still open to detectives.
5. Drunk Driver Cuffed
West 254th Street and Broadway
Brinx, NY
Police said they arrested a man on the exit ramp of the Henry Hudson Parkway leading to Broadway around 1 a.m. on May 21 for driving while intoxicated. The defendant, 30, was reportedly parked and sitting behind the wheel of a 2009 Nissan Frontier when officers pulled up next to him to question him. The suspect said he had been drinking but had not had a drink since leaving his previous location. The man was taken back to the precinct for a Breathalyzer exam, where his blood alcohol level was found to be 0.1 percent. The case is closed due to arrest.
