Mosaic still makes difference here

(re: “Mosaic’s ‘teletherapy’ efforts featured on CBS News,” First Online, April 6)

Thank you for your coverage of the enlightening April 5 CBS “Sunday Morning” report on Mosaic Mental Health and its use of teletherapy to make a crucial difference in this time of especially deep need.

To be featured on America’s most-watched Sunday morning news program underscores the vital nature of the work Mosaic does to assist people of all ages, from all walks of life, and the example Mosaic is setting for the whole country.

Hundreds of people annually show their support and raise awareness of Mosaic, as well as its mission to end the stigma of mental illness and treatment, by participating in the organizations “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies” 5K Run/Walk at Van Cortlandt Park.

This spring’s 5K, scheduled for April 26, had to be canceled because of the coronavirus crisis.

YES Network analyst David Cone, the former All-Star pitcher for the Mets and Yankees, was going to be the honorary 5K starter. He is a dedicated backer of Mosaic’s programs for individuals, families and the community, and he recently tweeted the following: “Mosaic Mental Health — Every mind matters. Check out Mosaic if you need to talk. Great resource serving the Bronx for over 50 years. Please join me in supporting Mosaic Mental Health.”

The months ahead are going to be a struggle, and traditional sources of funding will be in jeopardy because of the pandemic.

We hope everyone embraces David Cone’s message and gets behind Mosaic. And we look forward to future 5K gatherings.
