POINT OF VIEW

People just don't want to understand what I'm saying

On Aug. 1, The Riverdale Press published my Point of View (re: “Care about people — just make sure it’s right people,” Aug. 1), and I was curious as to what the response would be, and am now ready to reply.

The main part of my letter will address the offensive remarks made by Jennifer Scarlott, but first I wish to respond to certain comments made by people who I (because I happen to be an “adorable deplorable”) will just describe as uninformed or mistaken.

I won’t be as gentle with Ms. Scarlott.

The official terminology used to describe the legal residents of the United States is as follows: citizens, resident aliens and non-resident aliens. Anyone else is in this country illegally — thus they are “illegal aliens.” Those people who find this to be a pejorative term have been brainwashed.

To the person who said that “open borders” have been here for 200 years, I reply as follows: “At one time, there was no need for immigration laws, just as at one time there was no need for zoning laws. But that was then, and this is now, and we have laws to be followed, and people like Chuck Moerdler (in the case of land use and zoning) make sure these laws are followed.

Now let’s address the issue of “Upper West Side liberal Jews.” This characterization is a common one referring to those Jews — many of whom live in that section of Manhattan — who are liberal, vote Democrat, and whose guiding principle is what they consider “social justice” and compassion. Of course, not every Jew who lives there falls into that category.

I am referring to a state of mind, not geography. There are plenty of these (whom I consider misguided) people living in Riverdale.

And to those people — and to all Jews — I recommend getting a tape of an hour-long program that first appeared on the Jewish Broadcasting Service on Aug. 22. This program was a discussion between Rabbi Mark Golub and noted civil rights attorney Thane Rosenbaum, speaking on the topics of anti-Semitism, U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the Democratic Party, and Jews.

This was a very enlightening discussion, and especially listen toward the end to what they have to say about those I call “Upper West Side liberal Jews.”

The tapes can be had for a $36 donation. It is an extremely worthwhile tape for the Riverdale Temple and other shuls to show to their congregations.

Jennifer Scarlott and Jamaal Bowman (re: “There’s no place for hate in Riverdale, or anywhere,” Aug. 15), between them, in responding to my letter, called me a hater and accused me of racism, anti-Semitism, and being anti-immigrant.

Ms. Scarlott, who attacked me on the internet version of The Press — which appears on Sundays — even demanded the paper no longer publish my letters, which she considers hate speech. Nowhere did she respond to any of the cogent arguments I presented on the extremely serious topics of illegal immigration and open borders.

Why didn’t Ms. Scarlott rebut or refute my arguments. The answers — because she didn’t have the arguments to do so, and didn’t have the brains (as did Congressman Eliot Engel) not to. Instead, she tried to silence my arguments by attacking me personally.

That’s the modus operandi of these fascists, leftist thugs — “Never respond to different points of view, instead keep these views from being presented”). So now we have radical leftist groups like antifa, Black Lives Matter, and Students for Justice in Palestine threaten violence and keep people such as Alan Dershowitz, Ben Shapiro and Dennis Prager from speaking at colleges all over the United States.

These groups also intimidate Jewish students with their “intersectionality” garbage, and intimidate and threaten individuals by accosting them in restaurants, threatening their jobs, and picketing their homes and businesses.

These are vicious, violent and evil people — and these are Jennifer Scarlott’s compatriots.
