Pharmacies now offering vaccines

Although winter storms and production issues have slowed down supply, vaccines are making their way into the Bronx. And those eligible to receive the early doses won’t have to travel all the way to Yankee Stadium to get jabbed in the arm.

The federal government has opened up a number of pharmacy-based vaccination sites, primarily through Walgreens/Duane Reade, Costco and Rite Aid.

Local vaccination points as of Monday include:

• Walgreens at 541 W. 235th St.,
• Rite Aid at 21B Knolls Crescent
• Montefiore Marble Hill Family Practice at 5525 Broadway
• Walgreens at 5564 Broadway

All of the locations require advance appointments, and most of them only offer vaccines to those 65 and older.

Theaters reopen, catered events return

It will be a year in March since much of New York — and the rest of the world — shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic. But in the coming weeks, some long-lost attractions are set to reopen.

Movie theaters can reopen in the city beginning March 5, so long as audiences are limited to 25 percent, or 50 people per showing. Masks are still required, as is social distancing.

Billiard and pool halls also can open in the city at 35 percent capacity.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo also announced that weddings and catered events can resume March 15 as long as capacity is no more than half, and everyone attending has been tested for the coronavirus prior to the event.

Dancing will be allowed — with proper social distance.
