(re: “Don’t sack plastic bags yet,” March 29)
Although we use cloth bags for groceries, I have seen little consideration of the ubiquitous second use of disposable store-provided bags as durable containers for household garbage.
Eliminating these bags will likely result in the purchase of plastic garbage bags, which only perpetuates the environmental hazards.
Until inexpensive biodegradable garbage bags are available, efforts to remove this menace will be frustrated.
