RIVERDALE RESIDENT TO BIKE 150 MILES

Posted

On August 3, 2011, Riverdale, NY resident Robert Marcus will be cycling 150 miles to benefit the seriously ill children (and their families), who are serviced by the Chai Lifeline organization of Brooklyn , NY (www.chailifeline.org ).

The long-distance bike ride, called “Bike4Chai,” will commence from the town of Asbury Park, NJ, on the famous Jersey Shore, and end at “Camp Simcha,” the remarkable overnight camp for pediatric cancer patients operated by Chai Lifeline in Glen Spey, NY (www.campsimcha.org ).

Mr. Marcus is participating in the trek in order to raise funds for this most admirable charitable organization. He hopes to raise $10,000 for his efforts and he is well on his way to achieve this goal.

A dedicated recreational athlete and a member of the New York Cycle Club, where he is a Group Ride Leader, Mr. Marcus volunteers his time for several local charity bike rides each year. Long range cycling is a way of life for him as he commutes by bicycle from his Riverdale home nearly every day to his place of business in Jamaica, Queens – a 44 mile round trip.

Every summer Camp Simcha, and its sister camp Camp Simcha Special, offer 430 children a chance to forget about their debilitating illnesses and just be kids again. Throughout the year Chai Lifeline helps children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath of serious pediatric illness.
