Shooting injures teen answering door

Police are on the hunt for two men they say shot and injured a teenager during the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

Two men kicked and knocked on the 19-year-old’s door on West 238th Street near Waldo Avenue sometime around 5 a.m., according to a report. The teenager apparently told the men they had the wrong house, but that didn’t stop one of them, who pulled out a gun and shot the teenager in the torso.

He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital on Third Avenue where he was treated for his injuries. Police did not release his name.

Police are looking for a black man with dark-skinned complexion, medium build with dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a green snorkel jacket and a gray hoodie.

The second man was described as black, light-skinned complexion, with a slim build and wearing red sneakers, a red-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a blue jacket.

Lawyers are cool with legal weed

Recreational marijuana becoming legal in New York may have taken a big step forward last week now that even the state’s lawyers are coming out for it.

The New York State Bar Association gave its blessing to a report from its cannabis law committee Jan. 31 that makes the case for legal weed.

The 23-page report outlines how attorneys believe laws legalizing cannabis should be crafted. It includes details about safety, research, social equity and taxation, among other factors, according to a release.

Any state law should provide for federal testing, a state tax, advertising and marketing guidelines, a new Office of Cannabis Management, and the ability for municipalities to “opt out,” according to a release.
