Social studies teacher Doris Hoffman, 84

Doris Hoffman, 84, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, in Manhattan.

She was born in Philadelphia on July 30, 1935, to Sara Zacker and Ellis Lincoln Zacker. She graduated from Cornell University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree, and received her master’s degree from Teachers College at Columbia University.

She worked as a social studies teacher at William Howard Taft and Walton high schools.

She married Robert Hoffman on Aug. 16, 1958, in Manhattan, and moved to Riverdale, where she lived for the last 61 years.

She is survived by her husband; her loving sons and their wives: Alan and Marla Hoffman, and Richard and Karen Hoffman; and her six adoring grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole, Jodie, Craig, Kallie and Aimee.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at Weinstein Memorial Chapel in Yonkers. Please send donations to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
