To the editor:
(re: “After 58 years, iconic barbershop may succumb to rent hike,” March 12)
I read about Roosevelt Spivey’s barbershop, which is facing a doubling of its rent.
The shop is apparently a bedrock of the community. The landlord is not responding to calls to negotiate.
I read about the 29-unit, five-story building, which will be built at the southern end of our lovely Brust Park.
Riverdale used to be a beautiful community. No more.
My Lakota brothers have a term for the greedy white man — wasichu, or translated as “fat eaters.”
Enough said.
