Sun & Sails at RiverFest

Posted

Another run around the sun brought the Hudson River’s best party back to Riverdale.

It was a weekend for sailors and landlubbers to rejoice in the river and the neighborhood’s lush landscape along the river’s edge. Families, performers and seafaring explorers convened on the College of Mount Saint Vincent’s campus to celebrate all things Hudson River.

Over the course of two balmy late spring days, the Pioneer schooner gave people the thrill of sailing while circus acts kept the party going on land. Children went under the brush to get their faces painted, and musicians filled the air with song. Artists displayed their wares to curious passersby, and chefs of all stripes offered up delicious dishes.

As the sun set late in the day Sunday, the water lapped along the shore as RiverFestBX to a close, marking the community’s ongoing effort to make the Hudson River Greenway a reality.
