To the editor:
Hunger — be it on a global, national or local level — is a critical issue.
As a person of faith, as someone who has ministered to families and children who have suffered from hunger and is an advocate for peace and justice for families, I urge U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel to co-sponsor H.R. 189 — one way to strengthen the United States’ commitment to global nutrition.
I hear that H.R. 189 will be included in the next House Foreign Affairs Committee mark-up meeting agenda.
I thank you for that. Strengthening the U.S. commitment to global nutrition is in our best interest as a country.
It will lead to greater economic and political stability, will alleviate malnutrition, stunting of physical and cognitive development, and thereby permit millions of children to reach their full potential.
I urge Rep. Engel to co-sponsor H.R. 189, and I urge readers to consider advocating for this resolution.
