Take the time to vote

Posted

To the editor:

After calling the city’s and the Bronx’s election boards as well as going to VoteNYC online, I want to save others the time and confusion I experienced, and to ease getting the mail-in ballots.

Here is what I learned.

I do not automatically receive either an absentee ballot or an application for one just because I voted by mail in the June primary. I must request the application.

The easiest way to request an application is to call (718) 299-9017 — they pick up right away — and request they mail it to you. Or go to VoteNYC, scroll down to “absentee voting,” and follow instructions to either get an online application, print it out and mail or fax it in, or follow instructions for the email application.

The mailing address is the Bronx Board of Elections, 1780 Grand Concourse, Fifth Floor, Bronx, N.Y., 10457.

And please, Riverdale Press, publish similar notifications weekly. We can vote early, we can’t vote often, but we must vote, and our votes must be counted.
