Wheels of misfortune for another Honda

As bad luck would have it, rims and tires are a popular target of theft, as one man found out July 12.

The man told police someone stole the wheels off his 2019 Honda Accord at about 7:15 p.m., while it was parked on the 3000 block of Johnson Avenue.

It’s unknown if surveillance cameras nearby caught the thief in action, but detectives are on the case. Police valued the stolen property at $1,200.

A man had to schlep his groceries on foot after a bandit made off with his ride home.

He parked his 2019 motorized scooter in front of Garden Gourmet on the 5600 block of Broadway on July 15 at about 10 p.m. Trusting his fellow man to do the right thing, apparently, he left the key in the ignition.

That may not have been a good choice, because when he returned after his shopping was finished, he found the scooter and the stuff he kept in it gone.

Police say the thief took the scooter — which they valued at $2,176 — a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, an alarm lock, helmet, license plate and a U.S. passport.

Defibrillator theft is a shock

Maybe whoever broke into a 2017 Nissan sedan is trying to turn over a new leaf. Or perhaps they’re leaving the life of crime behind and going into medicine.

A woman told police she walked to her car July 15 just before 9 a.m., to find the rear passenger window was shattered. What was missing? Her husband’s medical equipment kit.

The heartbreaker took a Phillips HeartStart automated external defibrillator, a toolbox and an organizer. Cops valued the stolen stuff at $1,442.

What’s better than a bologna sandwich? A bologna sandwich that’s been in a hot car all day.

A woman returned to her car parked near the northeast corner of West 246th Street and Henry Hudson Parkway on the morning of July 17 to find somebody broke her front passenger side window and nicked her lunch bag, a GPS, sunglasses, iPod and an airbag device.

Police valued the property at $1,530. No word on what kind of sandwich was in the bag.

Steel-belted slasher

Some general mischief struck the 2700 block of Sedgwick Avenue just after dinner on July 16.

A man said he parked his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee there that evening, only to return around 11 a.m., on July 19 to find someone slashed three of his tires and left a long, ugly, horizontal scratch across the driver and rear passenger door.

Police are investigating.
