The forecast was not pretty, but that didn’t stop the 800 or so high school cross country runners from taking the course at Van Cortlandt Park for the Manhattan College Invitational. For the top performers, the rain may have been the extra refreshment they needed to rapidly navigate the 2.5-mile course. The lasting memories of the 51st annual event were all in all good. more

The non-profit Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame inducted 15 new members to the Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame on July 15 at Mullaly Park. The honors will be presented at its annual awards dinner to be held on Nov. 3 at the Villa Barone Manor at 737 Throgs Neck Expressway.  more
With two weeks left in the regular season, Northwest Bronx public school baseball is almost ready to venture into the playoffs. For now, teams are playing out the final games of the regular season, going head-to-head to see who the best really are, until the real test comes in late May. more
Two years ago, Chris Ballerini was heading up to the second floor gym at DeWitt Clinton High School during one of his breaks. New York City was still on tentative lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Clinton was beginning to bring in some of its students to learn in-person before, eventually, the city would reopen all of its schools. more
A few weeks ago, a group of high school wrestling coaches were getting their athletes together for a practice to prepare for the New York boys state championship. Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy wrestling head coach Michael Lepetit had two boys going to qualifiers, and then he remembered his senior Lexi Elson. more
