these are great events. i hope they are more prevalent when my children start going to school.

embarrassment and lack of information lead maturing young women and men into compromising positions that affect self respect, healthy future interactions and safety. too often young women and exploring, gay men are tricked into thinking sexual promiscuity and carelessness is okay and acceptable and learn to ignore and bottle the psychological and even physiological implications. also, damaging and poorly structured relationships become the norm (aka "friends with benefits".) there are no winners in this situation.

conversely boys feel pressure to "gain experience" instead of believing that its okay to remain friends or man up and choose to embark in a monogamous relationship. they let others make decisions for them and often choose to uncharacteristically engage in damaging behavior therefore allowing the cycle to continue.

these children grew up thinking britney spears and early christina aguilera are the norm.. they grew up thinking you just need to be naked and its okay. this thinking was the creation of the unscrupulous and sexually frustrated and somehow made its way into mainstream culture and society. this way of thinking is a failure of society and now is the time to fix it.

its about time we tell our future its okay to be who you are and further, that they are not alone in their experiences and how they feel. currently, social restrictions prohibit many from engaging in these talks within their own social circles. therefore, it is up to civic leaders, educations and us to facilitate dialogue.

for too long these cockroaches and vultures used taboo to prevent us from tackling our shortcomings head on where it matters: at the foundation. its time to stop doing damage control and start being proactive.
