On Monday, the Assembly passed legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz that will require primary care physicians to post information on how to subscribe to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s e-mail list so that parents can stay informed about safety recalls.
“Safety must come first, especially when it comes to our children,” Mr. Dinowitz said in a press release. “This legislation will help make sure parents are more informed about dangerous products. Ultimately, providing more information about product recalls could save lives.”
The bill will move to the state Senate. If it passes and the governor signs it into law, Mr. Dinowitz said it will help keep parents notified of product recalls and safety news. In recent years, hundreds of children’s products have been recalled because they pose a health hazard.
