Dangerous dinner

1. Police said minutes after a gunman robbed a group of diners at Land & Sea Restaurant at around 4:30 a.m. on March 1, one of the victims threw a glass at the thief and ended up with a bullet wound in his hip. 

A 28-year-old man told officers he was dining with another man and four women at the restaurant, located at 5535 Broadway, when a stranger sat down at their table, pulled out a silver handgun and ordered the group to “Give me all the money and jewelry.”

The diners placed a $17,000 Rolex watch, a $25,000 Cuban link chain, a $25,000 ring and $1,300 in cash on the table, police said.

Officers said the thief pocketed the valuables and headed toward the door. When the 28-year-old hurled a glass in his direction the robber fired his gun, police said.

The victim was struck in the hip and hospitalized, but officers said he is expected to recover.

The gunman was last seen leaving in a silver 2009 Honda.

The case remains open.

2. Ford Fusion stolen

A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with a felony grand larceny on Feb. 28, after police said they found him behind the wheel of a 2010 Ford Fusion reported stolen by Wayne Township, N.J. police.

He was spotted near 2907 Kingsbridge Terrace and arrested.

3. Window basher

Officers said they received a call about a 53-year-old man smashing the glass of Broadway Pizza & Pasta with his cane at around 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 28.

Police found the man near the 192 W. 231st St. eatery, arrested him and charged him with criminal mischief.

4. Marijuana confiscated

Officers arrested a 17-year-old at around 8 p.m. on Feb. 27, after police saw him with what they believe to be marijuana outside 2865 University Ave.

He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana. 

5. Subaru smashed

A 26-year-old woman told police she parked her 2005 Subaru Legacy near Dash Place and Waldo Avenue and returned to find it damaged at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

She reported that the rear side panel was dented, the paint was scratched and the gas tank door was damaged. 

The woman estimated it would cost $3,400 to repair her car.

The case remains open.
