Grand larceny auto

1. A 51-year-old woman reported that her green 1998 Dodge Caravan, valued at $3,500, was stolen at 2625 Netherland Ave. on March 21 between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The woman told police she parked the vehicle in front of her apartment building and when she came back a few minutes later, it was gone. The case is open to police.

2. Driving under the influence

Police say that a 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged for driving under the influence on March 21 at 4:23 a.m. after she was observed sleeping behind the wheel of her 2004 Honda Civic with the keys in the ignition on the northwest corner of West 232nd Street. She was taken to the 45th Precinct to take a sobriety test after police noticed the woman had watery eyes and slurred speech. 

3. Money scam

On March 18 at 4 p.m., a 63-year-old owner of a restaurant at West 231th Street and Broadway told police that an unknown perpetrator called the man and said he was from Con Edison. The suspect told him that if he did not immediately pay a bill worth $2,900, the restaurant’s electricity would be cut off. The case is open to police. The 50th Precinct did not provide the name of the restaurant. 

4. Grand larceny

While walking on West 225th Street and Broadway at 7:45 a.m. on March 20, a 30-year-old woman said a roughly 20-year-old man ran towards her and snatched her Samsung Galaxy out of her hand, according to police. The phone was worth about $160. The case is open to police.

5. Felony assault

Police say a 36-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were arrested at 2751 University Ave. on March 24 at 3:33 a.m. after the two men got into a verbal argument that resulted in a physical fight. One man was punched and suffered swelling and redness in the face while the other man was cut by a knife, resulting in a laceration of the hand.
