Haifa in the Bronx

The Haifa Symphony Orchestra is making its Bronx Debut at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.

The orchestra’s appearance in the borough is highly anticipated, long overdue and greatly appreciated.

A cultural focal point in north Israel, the orchestra offers free performances and education programs to students in the region, as well as concerts featuring classical and Israeli music with virtuoso musicians and conductors from Israel and around the world.

Maestro Boguslaw Dawidow will lead the Haifa Symphony during its concert at Lehman. Mr. Dawidow was born and raised in Poland, studied in Vienna, Austria, with longtime New York Philharmonic Artistic Director Leonard Bernstein and has conducted orchestras in performances across Europe, South America and China.

Pianist Roman Rabinovich will join the orchestra to play Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Mr. Rabinovich won the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2008 after he immigrated to Israel in 1994 with his parents from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
