Hebrew Home to offer dialysis treatment

Posted

The Hebrew Home at Riverdale has teamed up with the Rogosin Institute to provide new dialysis treatments to benefit residents and rehabilitation patients at the Hebrew Home.

This is the first time dialysis services will be available at the site. Typically, residents of the Hebew Home had to travel to an offsite facility to receive treatments.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) uses the thin membrane, called the peritoneum, which lines the abdomen, to perform dialysis treatments. During treatments, the cleansing fluid dialysate is put into the patient’s abdomen through a tube called a PD catheter.

“I have had no facility to which I can refer my patients on PD who require rehabilitation,” said Roxana Bologa, director of PD at Rogosin, in a press release. “This new collaboration provides a vital resource for patients who have difficulty traveling for treatments.”
