Free flu shots available

Residents can receive free flu shots on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church, located at 3250 Arlington Ave.

You must be 18 or older to get a shot. To guarantee a shot, contact Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz’s office at 718-796-5345.

The service is sponsored by New York-Presbyterian Ambulatory Care Network, New York-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital, the Riverspring Certified Home Health Agency, the Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corporation, the assemblyman and other local elected officials.

Senior services discussed

The Riverdale Mental Health Association (RMHA) plans to give a public presentation about its services for seniors all over the Bronx at its annual meeting. It will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, located at 4450 Fieldston Road.

Anna Gil, director of “Innovative Services for Seniors,” will address how the program identifies seniors at risk for mental health difficulties and provides bilingual and bicultural psychotherapy, individual and group education and support, along with psychiatric home visits.

Classes at Lehman for kids

Lehman College is holding a free information session about its free Saturday classes for children and teens this fall. The meeting will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in room B08 of Carman Hall on the Lehman campus, located at 250 Bedford Park Blvd. W.

Parents will receive guidance on a wide range of classes including reading, writing, math, computing, acting, American Sign Language, art, music, sports and dance. Children are grouped in classes according to age and grade level to optimize learning. Dedicated instructors have been selected for their experience in teaching and for their expertise in their subject areas. Classes begin Saturday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 7.
