This Texas-based non-profit provides free and low-cost legal services for immigrant families, children and refugees, and is currently on the ground in Texas helping families that have been separated in recent months.
Protests have swept the country after revelations that border patrol agents have been separating asylum-seeking families as a result of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy. In the early evening on June 18, members of North Bronx Racial Justice and local residents gathered on the corner of West 231st and Kingsbridge Avenue to protest that policy that has resulted in undocumented children living in a tent camp in Texas. Community members called for family reunification and for a law to be passed that would put a stop to family separation. In the last six weeks, nearly 2,000 children have been separated from their families.
