1. Church vandal arrested
5030 Henry Hudson Parkway
Bronx, NY
Days after a storm destroyed the main window of Christ Church Riverdale, police said they arrested a man who intentionally shattered the front door window of the 5030 Henry Hudson Parkway institution. The suspect, 34, allegedly struck the front door of the church with a blunt instrument at about 6:20 p.m. on April 12 before being arrested and charged with a criminal misdemeanor. The case is closed to detectives.
2. Attempted robbery
5555 Broadway
Bronx, NY
An unknown suspect tried to steal $37 worth of soap and air fresheners from the Food Town at 5555 Broadway on April 13, according to police. The person who reported the incident caught the perpetrator and tried to stop him, but the would-be robber displayed a silver object under his shirt and the other person backed away and called police. While fleeing the scene, the perpetrator left the soap and other goods in the store. This case is open to detectives.
3. Acura stolen
3915 Orloff Ave.
Bronx, NY
A 30-year old man was on his way to work at 6 a.m. on April 13 when he saw that his car had been stolen, according to authorities. The victim told police that he parked his 2005 Acura in front of 3915 Orloff Ave., the night before and when he returned it was gone. A canvas of the area produced negative results and the investigation is closed to detectives.
4. A Honda, too
Sedgwick Avenue and Orloff Avenue
Bronx, NY
On April 13, a 23-year old woman reported her car stolen to police. The victim said that she parked her car on the northeast corner of Sedgwick and Orloff avenues. When she returned the next day, her green 1998 Honda CR-V was gone. The case is closed to investigation.
5. Graffiti maker arrested
5210 Broadway
Bronx, NY
Police said they observed and arrested a man trying to make graffiti inside a 5210 Broadway public housing building. According to police, the defendant was trying to use a black marker to paint the word “balance.” He was charged with making graffiti, intention to damage property and possession of graffiti instruments. The case is closed to an arrest.
