It was only appropriate that parent leaders called it “Fall Fun Fair.” With a burping and screaming contest and eat-a-doughnut-off-a-string game, PS 81 students have never had so much fun at school.
Sunday’s events, like the weather, were autumn-centered at the Riverdale Avenue school.
Families played a harvest bowling game of sorts, attempting to knock down butternut squash using a pumpkin as a bowling ball.
While some students tested their aim at the ring toss game, others opted to throw a creamy pie at a parent or teacher. And, if they weren’t throwing a cake, then they were eating one. Sweets from a bake sale and a brownie bake-off filled families’ tummies.
At the crafts table, students carved pumpkins, painted faces and designed bracelets and hats.
The rollicking good time — dubbed the “best day ever” by fifth-grade students — also helped raise funds for the school’s senior class which is planning many events throughout the year before graduation.
