FRIDAY STORMS

Flash floods — not dances — rattle Riverdale

Posted

A flash flood warning in New York City on Friday did not exclude the northwest Bronx.

Sheets of rain fell on Riverdale and other parts of the Bronx throughout the day, leaving at least a few thoroughfares looking more like lakes than streets and sidewalks.

Police even responded to a few calls regarding traffic issues along Broadway near West 231st Street, where a nearly one-block long puddle covered much of the street and more than half of the sidewalk.

Further north, on West 253rd Street and Fieldston Road, a puddle on the west side Fieldston was so big it covered 10 feet of sidewalk and two parking spaces in muddy water.

It is unclear whether or not anyone was injured as a result of Friday’s rain.
