Manhattan College on Tuesday dedicated the building that houses Smith Auditorium and the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers to Stephen J. Squeri, the American Express chair and chief executive. The building will don the name Squeri Hall.

Squeri began his career after graduating from Manhattan College with a bachelor of science in business administration in 1981 and then graduating with an MBA in 1986.

Since 2013 he has been a member of the college’s board of trustees.

Squeri has held his position with American Express since 2018, during that time the company has grown financially.

In 2021, Squeri gifted the school with $10 million in support of the college’s dedication to education. This generous donation went toward maintaining the facilities and structures of the school.
