No need to politicize KRVC

In response to your editorial questioning the relationship between the Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corp. and Sen. Jeffrey Klein, it must be noted that Sen. Klein is one of many of KRVC’s supporters, providing much-needed funding in the state budget that supports the important work that KRVC does toward improving our community.

KRVC has been instrumental in creating and supporting strong merchants’ associations in Kingsbridge (Broadway), Van Cortlandt, North and South Riverdale, which have strengthened the commercial districts in our area. KRVC also has hosted job preparedness programs, cultural and educational programs, and festivals, which bring our area residents together and foster a greater sense of community.

These festivals supports local artists and performers, highlight local small businesses, and provide venues for affordable family fun.

All of this work is only possible with the help and support of all our elected officials, which includes Sen. Klein. Your editorial highlighted all of the important and successful work that KRVC is doing with “our tax dollars,” but then curiously turned around and questioned that work.

Thus, one must wonder what the motives are behind the editorial that attempts to politicize a community organization that has a positive and important impact in the Riverdale, Kingsbridge and Van Cortlandt area.
