Police arrest shooters in St. James Park attack in Fordham

The two gunmen who fired into a Fordham Park wounding four people, including two children, on July 11, have been arrested.

A 16-year-old boy and Bronx resident Angel Hernandez, 20, have both been charged with four counts of attempted murder, said police with the 52nd Precinct.

The duo allegedly approached St. James Park while on a scooter and then one of them began to fire into a crowd, police said.

All four victims were taken and transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital and said to be in stable condition.

The shooters fled the scene and were later identified by the New York Police Department.

According to police, the 16-year-old boy is believed to have been the one to have fired the gun while Hernandez is believed to have been the one driving the scooter.

Kingsbridge homicide

A second person has been arrested and charged in connection to the fatal shooting of Jeremy Valencia on May 17. Bronx resident Luis Joyce, 27, was arrested Tuesday, July 18, according to police with the 50th Precinct.

He was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon: loaded firearm, police said.

Valencia was shot in the chest outside of 3470 Fort Independence St. at about 6:30 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene he was unresponsive. He was taken to Montefiore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Now two months later, Joyce joins Brooklyn resident and 29-year-old Arsenio Lopez in facing charges for Valencia’s murder.

Lopez was arrested late last month, being charged with murder, manslaughter and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

two robbers

A pair of men is being sought by the New York Police Department after they allegedly robbed a man in front of 6211 Broadway.

The 49-year-old victim was driving the two suspects in his 2018 blue Hyundai Sonata on Wednesday, July 12. At about 11:30 p.m. the driver and his passengers got into an argument. One of the passengers took out a knife and took $60 from the driver, police said.

The two men were last seen fleeing northbound on Broadway.

The first suspect, caught on surveillance footage at a gas station, is described as a man with a medium complexion, 20 to 35, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall with a heavy build. In addition he has tattoos on his right arm. When he was last seen he was sporting a dark colored baseball cap, a black T-shirt, blue shorts and black and white sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion and slim build, last seen wearing all black.

50th Precinct, shooting, St. James Park, Fort Independence Street, robbers
