Police make arrest in wheelchair robbery on West Kingsbridge Road

The 50th Precinct has arrested two men for the robbery of a man in a wheelchair that occurred on April 11.

Anthony Martinez, 20, and Anthony Myrie, 25, of the Bronx were both arrested on separate dates and charged with robbery.

A 64-year-old man in a wheelchair was sitting in front of 235 W. Kingsbridge Road at 8:30 p.m. on April 11 when two men approached and demanded money.

Upon refusing the robbers, they punched the victim in the head and took his phone, police said. The man was brought to Saint Barnabas Hospital and was said to be in stable condition at the time.

Martinez was arrested on May 9, while Myrie was arrested on May 22.

2014 Maserati stolen

An owner of a 2014 Maserati reported his car stolen at the northwest corner of Broadway and West 225th Street on April 14.

The victim said two individuals pulled up in a vehicle where his car was parked. One of the individuals jumped into the victim’s car and drove off. The crime was captured on surveillance footage.

Alleged robber on red moped caught

Abel Feliz Feliz, 34, of the Bronx was arrested by police on May 18 and charged with an April 14 robbery. 

The victim is a 53-year-old woman who was pushed to the ground, dragged, and stripped of her purse, which contained a personal ID, car keys, and $100 in cash.

The robbery was believed by the NYPD to be connected to a series of robberies that targeted women late at night in the 50th and 52nd precincts in April.

There were four separate robberies with victims ranging from 21 to 61 who had their purses and bags stolen by a man on a moped.

At the May community council meeting Commanding Officer Capt. Filastine Srour announced that they had identified a suspect for the robberies, although that person did not confess.

According to a DCPI spokesperson, there are no arrests on files for the first three robberies that occurred April 6, April 9, and April 10.

Construction tools stolen

An unknown individual forcibly entered a commercial truck and stole construction tools at Kappock Street and Johnson Avenue sometime between April 30 and May 1.

The property is valued at $18,030. The case is being investigated by the detective squad.

Wallet stolen

A woman reported her wallet missing to police on April 28 around noon.

While she was in a convenience store in front of 3714 Riverdale Ave. she placed her wallet inside her purse and closed it.

A few minutes after leaving the store and returning home, the woman discovered that the zipper to the purse had been opened and her wallet was missing.

The wallet contained $138. The detective squad is investigating.

Victim punched and robbed

An individual was robbed by multiple perpetrators on April 28 around 8 p.m., according to the 50th Precinct.

The victim was approached and then punched on the face and body, resulting in swelling and pain. Property totalling $1,100 was stolen from the victim.

There is an arrest warrant out and the detective squad is investigating the case.

Grand larceny auto

An individual reported their vehicle stolen at 230 W. 230th St. sometime between April 23 around 11:50 p.m. and May 3 around 1:40 p.m.

Surveillance footage possibly captured the incident.

2018 Honda Civic stolen

A woman’s 2018 Honda Civic was stolen sometime between May 3 at 7 p.m. and May 4 at 9:52 a.m., according to police. The woman parked her car at Reservoir and Goulden avenues. Upon returning she discovered it was missing.

The vehicle is valued at $22,000.

2020 Honda CRV stolen

A woman’s 2020 Honda CRV was reported stolen sometime between May 5 at 6 p.m. and May 6 at 1 p.m., according to police.

The woman left her vehicle parked at Tyndall Avenue and West 261 Street. The next day she discovered the vehicle was no longer there. She stated that no one else has access to the car but her.

2021 Mazda MZ2 stolen

A woman reported her 2021 Mazda MZ2 stolen on 3248 Irwin Ave.

She parked her car on May 8 around 6 p.m., returning on May 9 around 11:40 p.m. and realized her car was no longer there.

The vehicle is valued at $21,000.
